This brings us to the conclusion of our Malaysia and Singapore trip. These past three weeks have been incredible yet exhausting. We were all in charge of arranging our own transportation to the Changi Airport in Singapore. Melissa and I decided that we wanted to take the MRT one last time while everyone else opted for a Grab. The Changi Airport is the nicest airport in the world. There is a separate shopping center and rainforest in a dome directly across from the airport. The world famous waterfall and plants all around the dome look even better in person.
Our first flight was four hours to the Philippines. Once in the Philippines, we had to go through immigration to get our passport and Covid-19 cards checked. After that we went through a screening even though we never left the airport. We were then herded into a small room and told to find our checked luggage. We were confused because we thought our checked luggage would go straight to LAX. However, we had to find our suitcases and open them in front of an inspector. Once all that was taken care of, we had a six hour layover in the airport. The Manila airport has no food and is very small. It was difficult to waste those six hours but we found ways to sleep and work on our journals. Before boarding the plane we had to enter another long line to go through another security screening and passport check. Once on the plane we had a fourteen hour flight to LAX. There were multiple lightning storms on the way and it was scary to fly through.
I am so thankful that I was able to go on this trip and experience different cultures. This trip had an impact on me that I will remember forever. I want to thank La Sierra University and specifically the honors program for giving us this wonderful opportunity.
